Ataque foi resposta aos constantes atentados contra o tráfego internacional e comercial no Mar Vermelho
Desde o início da guerra entre Israel e o grupo terrorista Hamas, os Houthis, rebeldes aliados no Iêmen, cercaram o Mar Vermelho e atacam navios que imaginam ser ligados a Israel. Para Ricardo Cabral, professor de estratégia e segurança internacional, estes atentados terroristas atrapalham o trânsito e comércio internacional, além de interceptarem navios de guerra com suprimentos aos envolvidos no combate.
